Special Groups

At Firstnaija.com, we take the security of our members very seriously and have put several measures in place to make our users experience as smooth and fraud-free as possible. Our security measures go a long way to provide buyers and sellers alike a measure of confidence in trading on the site.

One of these measures is our Special Group feature. Using this feature, a seller can restrict their auction to only a selected group of people, for instance colleagues at work (even if spread over several branches in Nigeria), close and trusted friends, etc. During the process of listing an item for auction, the seller can then specify the particular group they want to restrict the auction to: only members of that group will be able to place bids on that item. This gives the seller an added level of assurance and confidence.

Additionally, sellers can restrict their items to groups that were set up by other users, and not only those they set up themselves. For example, if user A has had a group, 'XYZ' Group set up (or is a member of any Special Group), during the listing process of an item they can see all other Special Groups that have been set up on the site. So they may chose to additionally restrict the auction to the 'Chevron' Special Group, for instance, if they feel that the group membership are trustworthy. Sellers can restrict their auctions to a maximum of 3 Special Groups.
