1. Make sure you review a seller's FEEDBACK rating before buying from them. The feedback rating will help you to estimate the seller's trustworthiness, based on the experience other users have had with him/her. Generally, the higher the user's postive feedback rating, the better the experience other users have had in dealing with them.

2. As well as the above, you can also use the seller's verification status. Look out for the bank-verified or address-verified logo beside the user's name. A user who has a bank-verfied or address-verified logo besode their name is usually moe trustworthy than one without.

3. Make sure you read the item descriptions CAREFULY before you bid. Is the item new or old? Is it refurbished? What is the shipping cost? Don't forget you can ask the seller a question about the item before you bid! Be wary of sellers who do not answer your questions.

4. Avoid sellers who contact you and offer to do business with you outside the Firstnaija system - that is fraudulent!

5. Firstnaija.com offers a safe escrow service which we highly recommend. However, sellers and winning bidders may make payment and shipping arrangement between themselves, depending on what option the seller has specified when listing their item. If arranging payment with a buyer or seller, NEVER pay using (or accept payments via) instant cash transfers like Moneygram or Western Union. These payment methods cannot be traced and are risky.
     AND
Always keep a history of all correspondence - emails and telephone calls - exchanged with the seller/buyer of an item.
     PLUS
Apart from the very first mail you receive from firstnaija.com, which is your membership activation confirmation, Firstnaija.com will NEVER send you an email that contains links for you to click on to log into your account. Consider such emails as fraudulent, and report them to us immediately.

Remember - if you think you have been a victim of fraud, contact us immediately.
